Sean and Emily became fascinated by fungi while picking field mushrooms during the Level 4 Lockdown in 2020. Research and experimentation led them led them down a rabbit hole that has never ended. They now own and operate Mushrooms by the Sea in Lorenzen Bay, Raglan.

The farm consists of a spawn laboratory, two incubation rooms, a sterilisation room & hydroponic grow tents which allow them to cultivate up to 60kgs of gourmet mushrooms every week. They take their fresh mushrooms, dried mushroom seasonings and mushroom grow kits to Farmers' Markets every week in Raglan, Hamilton & Cambridge. Bulk orders are delivered Waikato wide to restaurants, food trucks and cafe's.
