We are very pleased with our purchase of oyster mushrooms. They took a while to pop out due to very cold conditions for Whangarei.
Can't wait to taste them. Thank you. Cheers Alma

Enoki and Phoenix Mushroom Kits

The kits received have been fantastic. The first harvest from the Enoki, slower growing, produced over 1kg! Amazing. I didn't expect such a large crop. The Phoenix kit also produced over 1kg of beautiful fat and tasty mushrooms. I thoroughly recommend Mushroom By the Sea kits. They were excellent value and the instructions received were easy to follow. My Phoenix kit is producing its second harvest. Thanks MBTS.

Golden Enoki - an edible artform

I grew these as a special treat for my Japanese mother in law. She noted the flavour was subtle but different from the traditional white Enoki she uses in her Miso soup but said it was delicious. I had a lot of mushrooms and repeating crops from the Golden Enoki so I took some along to Jodo (stick fighting) as a present for one of my instructors Mayumi who is also Japanese. She also cooked it as part of a Miso soup for her and her daughter. To quote she said they both 'almost cried' it was 'so good'. So I reckon you can say the flavour is spot on. After I finished the cropping from the first flush I hydrated the bag a bit an waited. Second flush now underway. Keeping them in a cool garage which seems to be the right conditions. Another friend on seeing the pictures of the Golden Enoki described them as 'edible art'.
